We are currently seeking a highly skilled Financial Operations Specialist to join our team and contribute to our strategic financial objectives.
Job Purpose:
As a Financial Operations Specialist, you will play a crucial role in establishing robust financial controls, optimising cost management processes, and providing comprehensive financial analysis. Your proactive approach will enhance financial accuracy, efficiency, and decision-making, supporting the organisation\’s cash flow, profitability, and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Control & Compliance:
- Develop and implement effective financial controls to support organisational and operational objectives.
- Manage financial control processes, including financial and management accounting, credit control, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Taxation, and statutory accounts.
- Ensure all financial statements comply with IFRS and industry standards, maintaining accuracy and completeness.
- Handle Company Secretarial duties, including maintaining statutory records and ensuring timely submission of required filings.
Cost Accounting & Financial Analysis:
- Lead cost accounting efforts, designing processes for detailed cost tracking, allocation, and reporting to support budget management.
- Prepare and analyse cost reports to identify opportunities for cost savings and enhance budget control across departments.
- Track and report on production costs, overhead, and departmental expenses, collaborating with teams to manage and adjust cost structures as needed.
- Provide data-driven insights on cost management to inform strategic financial decisions.
- Assist Supply Chain in establishing the cost and profitability of individual jobs and various projects.
- Prepare Inventory Valuation in collaboration with Supply Chain.
- Assist Client Services in preparing quotes, analysing the profitability of production orders, and projects before and after sales invoices are processed.
Management Accounting & Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to aid decision-making.
- Produce accurate quarterly Profit & Loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts to track financial performance.
- Coordinate the preparation of quarter-end management accounts, annual budgets, and ad-hoc financial reports for senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Maintain the General Ledger, Item Ledger, Purchase Ledger, and Sales Ledger to ensure accurate, up-to-date financial records.
Performance Analysis & Strategic Support:
- Support the business planning process through detailed Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow forecasting, providing key insights to senior management.
- Regularly evaluate and refine accounting systems to improve operational efficiency and financial performance tracking.
- Collaborate with the Finance Director to establish and monitor key financial metrics, contributing to strategic planning and performance improvement initiatives.
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for financial and operational processes, aligning them with the company\’s goals and values.
Budget Management & Operational Support:
- Work closely with budget holders to manage expenses, offering guidance to ensure alignment with budget targets and organizational priorities.
- Monitor company expenditures and recommend adjustments where necessary to support budget adherence and financial stability.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure adherence to the Quality Management System and ISO 9001 & PS 9000 standards, following established procedures.
Human Resources & Health and Safety:
- Foster positive working relationships with colleagues, adhering to company HR policies.
- Participate in regular 1:1 meetings and quarterly reviews.
Qualifications:
- Applicable financial qualification (Level 9 prefered)
- Proven experience in financial operations, cost accounting, and financial analysis.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and industry standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
