Transport Planner – Roscommon

Job description

Labour Force is currently hiring a Transport Planner on behalf of our client based in Roscommon. This is a full-time, permanent role with a Monday to Friday schedule from 10 am to 6 pm. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and scheduling company resources, including transporters and drivers, ensuring that customer service, efficiency, and operational targets are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build loads electronically for collection.
• Plan and assign deliveries and collections to drivers, including route and journey time planning, while adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with drivers, fostering good working relations.
• Collaborate efficiently within the office environment and support team members.
• Monitor and manage potential delays, ensuring proactive communication with customers.
• Assist with the scheduling of transporters for service and maintenance checks.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, and other relevant stakeholders as required.
• Regularly check transporter locations to ensure proper coordination.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support operational efficiency.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience in route planning or a related field.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, planning, and organizing skills.
• Proficiency in PC usage; SAP experience is an advantage.
• Ability to thrive under pressure.
• A relevant professional qualification is desirable but not required.
