Engineering Operative Cork City Centre.

My client is hiring an Engineering Operative to join their busy maintenance team in Cork. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail and a hands-on attitude who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Location: Cork City Centre
Roster: 5 days over 7 (shift pattern applies)
Salary: Starting at 33,078.36, increasing up to 39,252.81, depending on experience

About the Role

As an Engineering Operative, you\’ll play a key part in keeping the fleet running smoothly by ensuring all vehicles are clean, fuelled, and ready for service. You\’ll support the maintenance team with a range of operational tasks to help maintain the company\’s high standards for safety, reliability, and presentation.

What You\’ll Do

  • Refuel all vehicle types and check oil, water, and fluid levels
  • Wash and clean vehicles to company standards
  • Carry out shunting and vehicle movements as required
  • Perform light maintenance work under the guidance of a Foreman or Team Leader
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the garage and surrounding areas
  • Support general workshop operations and assist team members when needed
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental standards at all times

What We\’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a vehicle or fleet maintenance environment
  • Full Category D driver\’s licence
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a transport or logistics maintenance setting
  • Basic mechanical or technical knowledge
