Customs Office Supervisor

An excellent opportunity to step into a supervisory role within a large and well-established customs clearance operation. This position suits an experienced customs professional keen to progress their career while working in a collaborative, supportive team environment. You will play a key role in guiding a high-performing data entry team handling significant declaration volumes in a fast-paced setting.

N.B Due to location – own car is essential

The Role
As Customs Office Supervisor, you will combine hands-on customs expertise with people leadership. You will support daily operations, plan resources, resolve issues as they arise and act as a key point of escalation, ensuring the smooth flow of declarations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Clearance Manager and Supervise with daily task planning and team coordination
  • Act as the first point of escalation for operational or customs-related issues
  • Lead onboarding and training of new team members
  • Review and improve processes to increase efficiency, enhance performance and reduce duplication
  • Implement and manage customer authorisations, ensuring correct clearance procedures and ensure accuracy of customs data entered
  • Ensure internal processes and compliance requirements are consistently followed
  • Build strong knowledge of customer requirements to ensure effective service delivery
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure timely and correct information flow
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required
  • Produce customs and ad-hoc operational reports
  • Provide hands-on support and cover within the team when needed

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years experience in customs procedures and compliance is essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to support and improve team performanceprioritise, delegate and plan workloads
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
  • Proactive approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible, adaptable and solution-focused
  • Previous supervisory or team-lead experience is an advantage
