Production planner – Aviation

Our client, a leading organisation within the aviation sector, is seeking a Production Planner to support the effective scheduling and coordination of operational activities. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining production plans, monitoring work in progress, coordinating with key stakeholders, and ensuring delivery targets are achieved in line with customer requirements and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage weekly and monthly production schedules to ensure operational targets are achieved.
  • Monitor work in progress and coordinate priorities with internal departments to optimise workflow and resource utilisation.
  • Maintain accurate production records, reporting data, and planning information.
  • Provide regular updates on production status, capacity, forecasted completion dates, and performance against targets.
  • Facilitate and lead regular production planning meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Support operational management in achieving business objectives, productivity targets, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Produce and maintain planning reports, KPIs, and management information.
  • Identify scheduling risks, capacity constraints, and potential delays, implementing solutions where appropriate.
  • Work closely with customer-facing and operational teams to ensure service levels and delivery commitments are met.
  • Contribute to process improvement activities aimed at reducing turnaround times, improving efficiency, and controlling costs.
  • Undertake additional duties as reasonably required to support business operations.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a Production Planner, Production Scheduler, Operations Planner, Manufacturing Planner, Supply Chain Planner, Maintenance Planner, or similar role.
  • Experience within aviation, aerospace, manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, or other regulated industries would be advantageous.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organisational skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret technical information, operational data, and performance metrics.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP, MRP, production planning, or business management systems.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commercial awareness and customer-focused approach.
  • Experience working towards operational KPIs and performance targets.
