Job Opportunity: Transport Manager – St. James\’s Gate

Labour Force, on behalf of our client, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transport Manager for a position based at St. James\’s Gate. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with a strong background in transport planning and management to join a flexible team in a busy environment.

Position Details:

  • Location: St. James\’s Gate
  • Salary: €55,000 per year
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5 days per week

Role Overview: The primary function of this role is to collaborate with the existing team to ensure daily targets are consistently met. You will oversee the operation of technical equipment, optimize loading for efficient logistics, and support retail operations to ensure the smooth running of the business. This hands-on role requires senior management experience in a demanding environment. Responsibilities include overseeing deliveries, ensuring fleet compliance, and maintaining strong internal and external relationships while adhering to the company\’s business values and promoting a culture of health, safety, and customer service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage planners and customer service teams within the Retail Office at St. James\’s Gate.
  • Oversee and control the fuelling system across Dublin sites.
  • Manage trunking operations from St. James\’s Gate.
  • Ensure fleet compliance and manage all fleet-related costs.
  • Develop and multiskill key staff in planning and customer service duties.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer service relationships.
  • Raise purchase orders to 3PL suppliers.
  • Control retail payroll and holiday entitlements through TMS.
  • Optimize resource utilization versus the number of trucks.
  • Ensure compliance with driver hours, tachograph hours, and CVRT regulations.
  • Support innovation through systems like Microlise, Truck File, and POD capture on glass.
  • Oversee health & safety and accident reporting within retail operations.
  • Manage LA loaders, their schedules, and address any loading errors.
  • Meet business KPIs and ensure customer instructions are followed accurately.
  • Assist in staff management, training, mentoring, and coaching in customer service and delivery practices.
  • Report issues and concerns to senior management promptly.

Experience & Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years in a Senior Transport Planning or Transport Manager role.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Excel, and other MS Office packages.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to maintain strong customer communication.
  • Flexibility regarding work hours and willingness to travel as needed.
  • High energy and enthusiasm, with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
