Job Description: Transport Planner

Department: Transport
Location: Dublin
Salary: Starting from €31,000 per annum (DOE)
Reporting To: Transport Supervisor
Working Hours: 10:00-18:00, Monday to Friday (flexibility required)


Main Purpose of the Job

Driving force is recruiting for a Transport Planner for full time, permanent position to join a dynamic team and play a key role in managing the day-to-day activities of a fast-paced and complex transport/distribution operation. While the core shift is 10:00-18:00, Monday to Friday, flexibility may be required to provide cover for the wider Transport Team.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan daily driver routes in full compliance with transport regulations, including Tachographs, drivers\’ hours, and SOPs, using company IT systems.

  • Develop and refine the transport delivery schedule to enhance service levels for customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Ensure all fleet and driver operations meet legislative guidelines, escalating and rectifying any breaches immediately.

  • Liaise with drivers and third-party carriers to address transport-related queries.

  • Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure timely dispatch of all loads.

  • Take full ownership and accountability for assigned responsibilities.

  • Support day-to-day operations to help achieve departmental and company KPIs.

  • Review and monitor driver performance using appropriate IT systems.

  • Monitor and report on Tachograph records and driver working hours.

  • Monitor and report on driver performance using tools such as Cubo and Orbcomm.

  • Liaise closely with the Maintenance Manager to support fleet maintenance scheduling.

  • Provide accurate input to the Operations Manager to support periodic reporting.


Requirements

  • Previous experience in transport planning or a similar role within the transport/distribution sector.

  • Strong understanding of transport regulations, including Tachographs and drivers\’ hours.

  • Proficiency in transport planning systems and route optimisation tools.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.

  • A proactive, ownership-driven approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
