An Excellent opportunity for a Underwriting Team Manager to join a busy close-knit team based in D.18. This is a hybrid position with a salary of up to €80,000 and benefits on offer. There is parking on site.

The Job:

  • Providing strategic, operational and technical leadership to the underwriting team – developing a high performing culture, high team engagement and high personal commitment.
  • Leading a culture of continuous improvement within the underwriting team – encouraging and leading constant review of procedures and practices to ensure they remain optimal for the business, compliance and the consumer.
  • Leading the culture of excellence within the underwriting team – including maintaining documented oversight of governance and compliance (including but not limited to QA and appropriate KPIs).
  • Leading the development of, implementation of, and adherence to, effective underwriting management practices and procedures – including chronicling performance.
  • Monitoring productivity to effectively distribute, prioritise and manage team work.
  • Identify skill and knowledge gaps and provide guidance, coaching and training to the claims team – building skills, knowledge, experience and succession.
  • Performance management of direct reports.
  • Ensuring the underwriting team comply with requirements of Capacity Provider contracts: developing / utilising KPIs for oversight.
  • Actively managing portfolio trends monitoring and analysing portfolio trends, business mix, risk profiles and claims trends turning insight into action, exploiting development opportunities and addressing performance concerns ensuring the company targets the right risks.
  • Support the development of propositions, product features and enhancement opportunities from an underwriting and customer perspective.
  • Lead the technical guidance, underwriting decisions, coaching and development of technical capability across the Underwriting function; putting in place appropriate plans & actions to bridge any technical gaps identified
  • Relationship management of Insurer partner counterparts as appropriate.
  • Representing the company externally in industry forums such as Insurance Ireland, external partners, scheme writers, brokers and reinsures always promoting companies best interests
  • Oversight and execution of the Underwriting Licence Framework
  • Responsibility for the development and update of technical manuals, policy documentation, schemes, and procedures and standards to comply with group, legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Supporting the technical / operational expertise when developing new and existing products.
  • Any other activities as may be required from time to time.
